EXTS Entertainment Sound Technician

Your Purpose

The Entertainment Sound Technician is an integral part of the entertainment technical team in delivering entertainment and enrichment for our guests and crew, while creating a transformative luxury ocean travel experience.

Your Impact

• Manage all lounge areas, including the stage, wings, house, backstage, and other storage areas.

• Maintain the highest production standards for all sound checks, rehearsals and performances to ensure events are executed in a professional, safe and timely manner.

• Communicate effectively with all Team members and hosts to ensure that all pertinent stage setups, requirements, and cues are clearly understood, executed and documented if needed.

• A thorough understanding of all technical systems in the lounges, including but not limited to sound, lighting, and video systems.

• The ability to perform inspections, troubleshooting and repairs.

• Ensure fulfilment of all technical requirements for all daily scheduled and special events in the lounges, and additional ship wide venues if applicable.

• Have an active role and assist in Departmental Crew Events, this could be on a weekly, monthly, or as required basis.

• Execute and Deliver DJ Sets as required.

• Assist Technical Entertainment and Broadcast Manager with broadcast duties or maintenance.

• Must be willing to engage authentically with guests, while being a genuine brand ambassador for Explora Journeys throughout the Journey, striving to help guests reach the Ocean State of Mind.

• Prepare updated and accurate handover notes for the incoming Entertainment Sound Technician. Raise any handover issues or concerns with the Technical Manager prior to signing off the vessel.

• Perform all additional responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Entertainment and Broadcast Manager.

Your Journey So Far

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

• A minimum of 3 years experience in the technical entertainment industry.

• A minimum of 2 years of cruise ship experience, in a sound technician position in a live performance environment.

• Highly experienced with digital audio consoles and live show operation.

• A general knowledge of lighting console and video recording operation.

• Physically and medically fit as per Explora Journeys Company policy.

• Possess a valid Passport and Seaman Book.

• DJ Equipment and Software.

• Computer and network literacy required. DANTE, QLAB, Q-SYS, Yamaha mixing boards. Basic Windows based programs knowledge.

• Fluent English, oral and written. Additional European languages are advantageous.

Your Essentials

• Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.
