SFEN Staff Engineer
Your Purpose
Your Impact
• To implement, instruct and promote Company Policies concerning Safety, safe working practices and prevention of injuries and pollution.
• To ensure the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all on-board assets and cooperate with the responsible trades for the upkeep of Hotel areas.
• To lead professionally and safely the efficient and cooperative operation of all the assigned Teams in the engine department.
• To implement the Company Policy regarding Ship Safety, pollution prevention and injury prevention for crew and passengers.
• To maintain regular contact with General Manager and Sanitation Officer to ensure Technical compliance with International sanitation requirements, including Company Sanitation Standards.
• To plan, coordinate and inspect the safe and efficient progress of all planned and unplanned works while assuring that the workforce is utilised to the fullest extent and that no waste of resources may occur.
• To ensure the proper maintenance and effective working conditions of all the safety equipment and systems on board, such as fixed fire-fighting equipment, water-tight and fire screen doors and all the safety equipment within the engine room are maintained.
• To ensure the ship and shore management that an high level of husbandry is always maintained within the Engine Room and all Technical spaces assigned to his/her supervision.
• To ensure the proper disposal of all waste and clutter from technical spaces in order to avoid fire and other hazards.
• To assist the Chief Engineer in all mechanical, electrical, electronic, environmental matters aboard the ship and HR challenges within the Engine Department, as well as ordering parts and equipment for the department and budget forecasts.
• To plan in advance, delegate and assign daily planned and unplanned jobs to assigned engineers and ratings, keeping track of their regular and overtime working hours, ensuring that all machinery, fire-fighting and safety equipment within the Technical areas are working properly and according the Company standards and International laws.
• To maintain discretion over the issue of replenishment and the use of stocks and consumables in order to maintain accurate inventory and to maximise the assigned budgets.
• To assist in coordinate, load and move bunkers, chemicals and stocks on board.
Your Journey So Far
• Fluent in oral and written English (working and Safety language of the Company) Explora Fleet English Level: B2.
• Ability to speak, read and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement.
• Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages is considered a major advantage.
