FF&E Specialist

Where passion meets opportunity

The best of your adventures is the one you have yet to sail!

Your Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for a FF&E Specialist to join our growing Architecture & Design department. The Architecture & Design department is responsible for the development of interior and exterior design for vessels within the MSC Cruises New Building Programme, in collaboration with technical, marine, and naval architecture teams.

Reporting to the Manager, Fleet FF&E Architect based in the London office, and working closely with the Architectural team in Genoa, the Specialist FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) supports the selection, specification, and coordination of all FF&E items across the Newbuild fleet. The role ensures that all furnishings meet brand, quality, and operational requirements from design concept to final delivery—while maintaining a comprehensive archive of all products used onboard.

Your Impact

• Supports the definition, development, and specification of FF&E items for guest and crew areas, working in close collaboration with designers, consultants, and suppliers.
• Checks and evaluates FF&E mock-ups and product samples for design compliance, material quality, functionality, and durability.
• Prepares detailed FF&E specifications and documentation, including finishes, dimensions, installation notes, and manufacturer data.
• Establishes and maintains a coded archive of all FF&E items used across the Newbuild fleet, ensuring accurate records for procurement, maintenance, and future reference.
• Manages and updates FF&E schedules, sample boards, and material libraries.
• Participates in factory visits and onboard inspections to verify product execution and resolve issues during the outfitting process.
• Coordinates with Procurement, Technical, and Outfitting teams to align on logistics, delivery schedules, and installation standards.
• Ensures product choices align with cost, lead time, sustainability, and safety requirements.
• Supports internal design reviews and presentations, clearly communicating the intent and technical details of proposed FF&E items.
• Performs other job-related duties as required to support the successful delivery of interior design packages across all Newbuild projects.
• Ensures final placement of all FF&E items complies with approved layout plans and colour configurations during vessel delivery.

Your Journey so far

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Interior Design, Product Design, Architecture, or related field
• 2–3 years of experience in FF&E design, specification, and coordination—ideally in cruise (familiar with IMO MED certifications and requirements), hospitality, or high-end residential projects
• Experience in the construction and technical development of FF&E items is a strong plus
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Rhino, Revit, or SketchUp is a plus
• Good understanding of furniture manufacturing, materials, and marine-grade standards
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, product datasheets, and supplier specifications
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and archiving
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within international, multidisciplinary teams
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Availability to travel for mock-up reviews, factory visits, and onboard inspections during the delivery of the ship
