New Building Special Projects Manager

Your Purpose
We are pleased to be hiring for a New Building Special Project Manager to join our growing New Building team. Reporting to the New Building Project Director, the New Building Special Projects Manager supervises New Builds unique projects during their lifecycles. In this exciting position, you will lead the planning, execution, certification and monitoring of special projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within scope, on budget and in compliance with international regulation and with the relevant main project schedule/requirements.
Your Impact
• Develops detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and technical specifications, based on project requirements.
• Coordinates daily actions and communication flow to/from subcontractors and third parties involved in the project.
• Deals directly with Technical and Architect team, Class Register, subcontractors and Shipyard representatives to ensure that proper planning and coordination is done to maintain the design and construction schedule.
• Monitors the whole project progress, attend inspections (together with Architects and Technical Team) during the installation and delivery of the project and supervise the commissioning and certification activities.
• Maintains open communication with stakeholders and senior management, providing regular project updates and addressing concerns.
• Identifies potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to minimize project disruptions.
• Coordinates the Plan Approval process as required.
• Assists the Project Director with project-related procurement activities and contract preparation.
• Highlights relevant aspects of the approved design that can be improved for future projects.
• Carries out regular visits to construction sites and suppliers.
• Ensures effective stakeholder alignment and engagement.
Your Journey so far
• A degree relevant to shipbuilding or equivalent qualification with relevant experience in the Marine/Shipbuilding industry.
• Professional working experience in shipbuilding and/or refitting projects on ships .
• Project management skills including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations.
• Ability to review new building specifications and drawings and to read and understand a variety of engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint).
• Experience in a leadership position is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Your Essentials
• The right to live and work in the UK (preferred).
• Fluency in English, knowledge of additional language is a plus.
• Flexibility to travel when required.
