Assistant Operations Manager - Miami Cruise Terminal
Your Purpose
The Assistant Manager of Operations will be a key strategic partner in driving the success of our business unit. Collaborating closely with the Operations Manager and other senior terminal stakeholders including those at Corporate Headquarters, this role demands a proactive, adaptable, and highly organized leader. The Assistant Manager will help to manage relationships with all stakeholder representatives and share in the responsibility of overseeing the daily operations at MSC Miami Cruise Terminal and contributing to the evolution of operational protocols. Additionally, this position will involve working directly with third-party vendors to optimize terminal performance and ensure seamless operational excellence.
Your Impact
The Assistant Manager of Operations is responsible for helping Operations Manager tackle checklists, daily functions, and efficiency of the terminal. This role includes coordinating logistics and ensuring smooth embarkation and disembarkation processes for cruise passengers. Key responsibilities include:
- Operational Coordination: Collaborate with Operations Manager in the coordination between various departments (e.g., regulatory, baggage handling, logistics) to streamline operations and enhance passenger experience.
- Customer Service: Address and resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and a positive terminal experience.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, maritime laws, and company policies. Implement and monitor emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Logistics Management: help Operations Manager with the operation and logistical aspects of the operation in the provisions yard.
- Performance Monitoring: Assist Operations Manager in tracking and analyzing key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and help implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in the parking and traffic element, cruise terminal building, and provisions yards.
- Budget Management: Assist the Operations Manager with working within the terminal's budget, including assisting the General Manager and Director of Finance with forecasting expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
- Vendor Management: Assist Operations Manager with strengthening the relationship between third-party vendors, including but not limited to: Parking and Traffic Manager, Building Maintenance Manager, Janitorial Services Manager, Stevedores & ILA, Ground Handlers, Port Miami Staff, Regulatory agencies such as CBP, MDPD, & MDFR.
- Facility Management: Assist the Operations Manager in facility management, inspections, and upkeep of the premises.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a background in operations or management within the travel, hospitality, or maritime industries.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years professional security experience (Maritime Industry Preferred).
- Knowledge and understanding of Guest Port Services.
- Knowledge and understanding of Port Operations.
- Knowledge and understanding of Facility Management.
- Knowledge of crisis response and management.
- Certification in basic first aid and CPR.
- TWIC and Port Miami ID (Ability to obtain required).
- Basic technical knowledge of and understanding of automated systems related to facility systems.
- Physical Ability to climb stairs and move about a terminal facility in a fast-paced environment without restriction (This position has no work from home options).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to read and write in English and to understand and interpret written procedures.
- Ability to give and receive instructions and directions and effectively present information, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate tactfully both orally and in writing.
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Knowledge and ability to perform general administrative functions such as reports, manuals, and SOPs.
